Is It Too Late to Say Happy New Year? Plus Snow Day in ATL and Where I've Been
Whew, it's been a while.
I swore that starting this Substack would be my last attempt at being consistent at writing for my personal brand. My last Substack was in July, and although life with a baby while balancing entrepreneurship got overwhelmingly busy, I’ve got to do better.
Since July, I stepped into a new role as an editor of a home and lifestyle publication. I realized that writing and reading have always been such an essential part of my life that editing was a no-brainer. I’m a big believer in doing my own thing (hence being an entrepreneur), so I started asking myself, “If you can write articles and edit pieces for someone else’s publication, why can’t you stay consistent with your own Substack?” Introspection really puts into perspective what I need to focus more time on, and in the end, the answer is me. Becoming a mom taught me the importance of routine and structure and how I need to carve out time to make my goals and dreams come to fruition. So here I am, getting back into the flow of things, navigating a new chapter with my 9-month-old son and my husband.
Is It Too Late to Say Happy New Year?
Personally, I feel like this greeting is accepted througout the month of January. If you celebrate your birthday all of your birthday month, then you can say Happy New Year all of January! 2024 was a life-changing year for me, one because I had a baby and became a mom, but mostly because it pushed me to want more, dream bigger, and believe that anything is possible. At the end of last year, I saw so many people on social media and in my personal life talk about how hard 2024 was. It was hard. It was so hard. But I do believe in new beginnings, and although 2025 is starting off with the tragic wildfires in Los Angeles, a new administration moving into the White House, and the sense of uncertainty, I truly have faith that this year will be a great one. My hope is that we all ball.
It Snowed in ATL!
My husband and I moved to Atlanta, GA, in October 2022 from Brooklyn, NYC. It has not snowed since we’ve been living here, and the winters have been mild compared to the winters where you step outside in freezing NYC and say, “damn, it’s brick.” We saw news all week that the city was shutting down because of the impending snowstorm. I thought there would probably at most be some moderate flurries, but when I woke up yesterday morning, I was shocked to see outside covered in a white, beautiful blanket of snow. It was all our first time seeing snow in ATL, but it was Noka’s first snow day…ever, so we had to go outside and flick it up. Having a baby is cool because suddenly everything becomes magical again (holidays especially).
This Sézane scarf [pictured below] is so warm and luxe. It’s my absolute favorite scarf, and this is my fourth winter wearing it.

I had a blast seeing ATLiens on social media post their videos of skiing and sledding in Piedmont Park, referring to the city as ATLaska. This city is truly a special place and I am so grateful to be living in it.
There’s still a bit of snow outside, but nothing crazy. We’re going to be staying inside today, doing laundry, catching up on shows, and just chilling.
I hope you stay safe and have a lovely weekend. You will be hearing from me more often (I promise).
xx,
Kelsey
