Blink and You Missed It: My February Recap
The shortest month, but somehow just as packed as January.
If January felt like an entire year, then February was the opposite—it was a blink-and-you-missed-it kind of month. Atlanta had its usual “fake spring,” which I fell for completely. A few warm days had me thinking it was time to pack up my coats, but locals quickly warned me not to be fooled. They were right. It’s still chilly, which I actually don’t mind. I prefer cool weather over unbearable heat any day.
I got things done this month, but I also felt like I was on autopilot—just moving through my to-do list without feeling fully present. I keep dreaming about having 48 uninterrupted hours to myself just to read, write, and work on personal projects. But life isn’t really set up for that right now. I keep thinking about how nice it would be to take a sabbatical next year. Just a thought.
Here’s what stood out in February:
Noka’s First Super Bowl Party
We spent Super Bowl Sunday at a friend’s house, and while we thought it was going to be an adults-only gathering (we brought Noka along), we were surprised by a baby crew. There were three other babies there, and at one point, all of them were gnawing on rib bones in unison. The cutest llittle BBQ ribs club.
My Dad and Noka in Matching Outfits
My dad and Noka have this unshakable bond, which makes sense—they’re both Aries and their birthdays are exactly a week apart. My dad bought Noka an Adidas tracksuit months ago, and now that it fits, they had their first twinning moment. Seeing them together at lunch in their matching outfits made my dad way too happy, and honestly, it was adorable.
Valentine’s Day Dinner
I wrote a whole Substack post about this already (linked below!).
Quick recap: Tomo’s tasting menu in Buckhead was amazing, and I will be talking about it for a while.
Back on My Smoothie Game
I used to make smoothies all the time, and then life happened, and I got lazy. But I’ve been back on it every morning, and it’s been such a great way to start the day. My go-to hack is adding avocado for creaminess and ice for a thick, almost milkshake-like texture. I also sneak in adaptogens—Moon Juice’s Brain Dust and chaga mushroom powder are my favorites.
Lebo’s First U.S. Billboard (!!)
Lebo shot his first billboard in the U.S.! He’s photographed billboards in South Africa (where he’s from), but this one—featuring Spike Lee for Grady Hospital—was a major milestone. I had no idea Spike was born in Atlanta. He reps Brooklyn so hard that I just assumed he was born and raised there. We spotted the billboard last weekend while driving on the highway, and it was such a surreal moment.
Contributing to Two Substacks
One thing I love about Substack is how it fosters community. This month, I contributed to Platonic Love (where I shared the best advice my mom gave me) and Some Such Whatnot (where I reflected on friendship). It’s been so fun getting to connect with other writers in this space. (Linking both below!)
75 Soft—Still Going
I haven’t lost any weight, but I’m sticking with it. We move.
A Big Win for My Agency
We did some really cool and creative work at my social media agency this month. Ashanti (our Head of Operations and Social Media) had the idea to write a jingle for our client Hello Updo, and instead of overthinking it, I trusted her—and she delivered. The song went live yesterday, and the response has been amazing. It was a great reminder to trust my team’s creativity. Also, Ashanti modeled in our client’s shoot, and the images are stunning. If you’re not following them yet, go show them some love.
Still Obsessed with Paradise
It’s embarrassing how much I think about this show. Episode 7 was some of the best TV I’ve ever seen. I’m counting down the days until Episode 8 drops.
Consistency on Substack (!!)
I set a goal to post every Tuesday and Saturday, and I’ve actually stuck with it. That alone feels like a huge win.
Going Into March
Consistency, healthy eating, and spending time with my family. Also, getting out of my head and creating more content without overthinking it.

February win = getting back on a fitness and healthy(ish) eating routine. I already feel so much better and less sluggish. It can be SO HARD for me to get back on track, but the best feeling. I loved this Kelsey & congrats on the agency win!
What a wonderful month you had and well done 👏🏾 to your husband ! Huge deal!! Xx
